LAGOS ISLAND LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMBARKED ON MAJOR CLEARING OF ILLEGAL STRUCTURES

In continuation of the weekly environmental sanitation exercise, the Lagos Island local government embarked on major
clearing of illegal structures and extensions built on roads, walkways, and drainage systems at Idita Quarters, Balogun, Docemo, Martins, and  Oroyinyin markets.

The exercise was carried out after the local government authority served contravention notices on the traders.

These illegal activities impede pedestrian and vehicular movements and constitute environmental nuisance.

The Council Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Oyekan ordered the sealing of a restaurant operating during the weekly environment sanitation exercise period.

Hon. Oyekan also held a meeting with the traders at Isa Williams market. He urged them to desist from displaying their wares on the road and drainage systems.

The administration of Hon. Taiwo Oyekan is determined to restore Cleanliness and Orderliness in Communities and Markets
